Basement Rock Band
Not the video game. At some point in their life, every person wants to be a rock star. High school garage bands, mid-life crisis jam sessions in the basement, these are things that go on all around us. In this day and age, anyone who desires to, can rock out. A musical outlet can be emotionally satisfying and often can lead to chances to make some money. So, here’s how it goes:
Home grown bands tend to be the brainchild of one or two people. They have the idea that they want to put their musical skills to use and start putting out feelers to other musicians. They talk to friends at school, work, church: “Hey, I heard you play…” Usually there will be some form of auditions held for other members of the band, and when the founder(s) is happy with the lineup, thoughts turn to music. Will it be a cover band? Originals, written by band members, or a mix of the two? It’s important to determine the styles and flavors of the music that will be written and played.
The next chapter of band progression is practice, practice, practice. Everybody has things to do, and working band practice around everybody’s schedules can be frustrating. Practice makes perfect, regardless of whether the band is for therapy only or it will actually be playing gigs. If the band’s got a date to play, step up practices so that everybody’s more than ready to perform.
Taking notes is very important for all members of the band. The drums come in after the verse. The guitarist’s solo doesn’t end until after that measure. There’s a key change, heads up. Keep a pencil and paper nearby to jot reminders, or better yet, put up one or two glass whiteboards in the practice area. Use it to write general notes or the music of a difficult part everyone’s trying to nail down.
After a while, the band’s going to sound good. It a satisfying feeling, the first time a song finishes and each member of the band thinks “Hey that was pretty good.” All that practice pays off. So keep going strong, and play lots and lots. Then the neighbor is going to want to come over and listen, and then friends come and they pass it on and soon the mailman’s uncle is asking for the band to play at his daughter’s wedding. Stardom awaits.
The focal point of playing in a group is enjoying it. Practice hard, be seriously about playing, but have fun. A good band needs a healthy balance of buckle-down-and-work and kick-back-and-laugh. Don’t let drama interfere. Write funny quotes and inside jokes on those glass whiteboards around the corners of serious notes. If no one ever hears of the band, it won’t change the fact that for three minutes and twenty-three seconds, you are a great musician. Plus, your family will be able to say “We have a rock star in our basement.”

Buying the best ballet shoes for your child
When buying ballet shoes for your child it’s very important to make sure the shoe fits them correctly. In order to get the correct fit there are several elements that you need to take into account.
There are two main types of ballet shoe. The first are soft ballet shoes which are very lightweight. They usually have a leather, canvas or satin upper and a suede sole. They’re designed to offer support for the student’s feet. Once the student begins to develop their muscle tone and their bones ossify, they’ll be able to use a type of shoe called a pointe shoe. This type of shoe enables the dancer to stand on their toes – or en pointe.
Ballet shoes are designed to protect the student’s feet and ankles in order to enable them to give their best possible performance. It is often tempting to buy a pair that the child will grow into. However, this is not a good idea as this will encourage the dancer to curl their toes in order to keep the shoes on their feet. If the shoes are too small, the toes will be crammed into the end which may prevent the dancer from being able to achieve standing en pointe – one of the greatest joys and achievements in learning ballet.
You need to make sure the ballet shoes you choose are of a good quality so they will last for as long as possible and provide maximum comfort for the student. There are many manufacturers to choose from such as Bloch, Capezio, So Danca, and Dance Gear. All of these have been supplying dancers of all abilities with high quality ballet shoes and other dancewear for many years.
There are many other items that all new dance students require such as a leotard, ballet tights and ballet socks. All of this dance kit will need to be carried to and from dance class. Whilst there is nothing wrong with using a carrier bag from the local supermarket, you will find that there is a wide array of stylish dance bags available that don’t necessarily have to break the bank. These will help protect the shoes and are available in a wide range of different colours too. Many of them can also double up as school bags!
You can purchase your child’s ballet shoes and other dancewear from any good specialist dance shop. This is preferable to shopping from a more general shop (some supermarkets have been known to stock a small range of ballet shoes) because they are able to offer specialist advice about all the dance gear your child needs. Specialist dance shops also stock a wide array of other types of gear such as ballet tights, leotards, ballet socks and much more so you can get your child all kitted out at the same place!

Lip Care During Winter and Tips
Mouth is one of the most important aspects of the body that God has given us. Winter is the season where all are having little bit problem with skin. many person also feel problems with Lips also. Lips have an extremely thin outer layer and few oil-producing glands, which can lead to excessive dryness. Dry chapped lips are a common problem in winter. Soft and smooth lips figure among the foremost indicators of physical beauty. The skin on lips lack oil glands; hence they tend to get dry and cracked easily. The most important step you can take to achieving the sexiest lips ever is to protect them from the sun. The best protection against sun damage is a water resistant lip balm that keeps lips moist and has an SPF of 15 percent or higher.
If you want healthy lips always apply a sunscreen to your lips with a minimum of SPF 15. Dip a black tea bag in warm water and press it on lips for three to four minutes. This increases moisture level on skin of lips. Remove your lipstick before going to bed using a herbal cleanser and apply a thin layer of ghee on and Do not lick lips repeatedly. Collagen is a protein that prevents wrinkle development around the lips. Constant exposure to the sun can lead to undesirable and premature aging. Around 92 per cent of women use lipstick each day. Lip balms with sunscreen should be applied a ½ hour prior to sun exposure and then reapplied throughout the day. Extreme weather can also lead to chapped and flaking lips. To keep lips supple, exfoliate them gently with a soft toothbrush and a lip exfoliator.
Tips for healthy Lips
1. Always apply a sunscreen to your lips with a minimum of SPF 15.
2. Massaging lips with ghee (clarified butter) and leaving a thin layer of it on lips overnight acts as a natural protection for lips.
3. Repeatedly apply herbal moisturizing lotion on lips.
4. Apply a thin coat of natural balm on your lips before applying lipsticks.
5. Dip a black tea bag in warm water and press it on lips for three to four minutes. This increases moisture level on skin of lips.
6. Do not lick lips repeatedly.
7. Dip small cotton gauze in warm clarified butter (ghee) and place it on lips for 20 minutes.
8. Remove your lipstick before going to bed using a herbal cleanser and apply a thin layer of ghee on.
9. Exfoliate the lips every week with a stiff tooth brush and a drop of honey.

Joan Jett & Sawyer Brown Perform at Odawa Casino Resort
Located in Petoskey, Michigan, the Odawa Casino Resort is attracting a diversity of music acts for the month of July, and even more artists will be visiting Northern Michigan to round off the summer season of music!
Starting off the month with a classic pop icon, Joan Jett, an accomplished singer, songwriter & guitarist with eight platinum and gold albums will be performing Saturday, July 10th at 8pm. As one of only two women on Rolling Stone Magazine’s 100 greatest guitar players of all time, she is known for hits like “Crimson and Clover” and “I Love Rock ‘N’ Roll.” She is also a producer and host of a weekly Sirius Satellite radio program on Faction.
Based in Florida, Sawyer Brown will put on a high-energy show Saturday, July 24th at 8pm. The country band that got its start on “Star Search” has been performing for 23 years and has put on more than 3,500 shows – winning both gold and platinum albums. Despite their accolades, Sawyer Brown remains loyal to small towns and rural communities.
